Ok, I officially have a favorite on Top Chef. Lia! I think I even have a little crush on her. She's just so darn cute. It was great to finally see a couple of the women do so well last night. Of course, it was another girl who went home, but Lia and Casey were both very strong.
As for So You Think You Can Dance...it is time for Cedric to go home. It's not that I don't like him, he's just not as good in various styles as most of the others. I like Lacey, even though I didn't think I would, and I like Anya, Sabra, and Sarah.
In other news, it's t-minus 10 days until my nephew arrives for his visit, I'm not renewing my lease so I'm house hunting and I hope to be in a new place by the end of August, tonight I'll finish Me Talk Pretty One Day, and right now I'm sitting in my office at work and my ipod is playing Time Will Do the Talking by Patty Griffin.
My Granny's cheesecake is the yummiest I've ever had in my life. This is the recipe..
Crust:
1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 stick butter
Melt the butter and mix with the crumbs and sugar. Spread evenly in a 8 or 9-inch spring form pan.
Filling:
1 cup sugar
24 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature before mixing. Using the paddle attachment of the blender, beat all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. For an extra creamy result you can add an additional egg. Pour mixture into pan. Bake @ 325 degrees until center jiggles just a little when you move the pan. Usually between 30 and 45 minutes. Sometimes the top will brown slightly and crack. That is ok.
Topping:
16 oz. sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix ingredients by hand until smooth.
After removing cake from oven, spread topping over cake. Place cake back into oven for 5 minutes, just long enough for the topping to set. Remove from oven and cool completely before removing sides of pan.
