Seriously....I have no title

I've lived in an apartment for about the last seven years or so. Whenever I've moved to a new place, I've always ended up in an apartment for whatever reason. It's easy, you don't have to worry about mowing a lawn and you usually make one or two calls and your cable and electricity is taken care of. About a month ago, I decided I wanted to move into a house. I thought finding the right house was going to be the hard part. Turns out, the electric company I've had for the last year doesn't service my new place, that's $165 for the deposit. Same goes for the cable company. I had to switch to satellite which means I had to get dsl so I could have the internet. Satellite and dsl are more expensive than my cable was. I haven't even had to pay for water over the past year. Tomorrow, I have to pay $125 to the water company just to get it turned on. I also have to pay for my garbage to be picked up and for someone to mow my yard. I know once I'm in my new house I'll be happy though. I'm actually looking forward to painting and getting new furniture, things like that to make it feel like home.

Stupid reality shows

I'm so pissed right now. Lacey was just kicked off SYTYCD. GAH!

Top Chef also pissed me off last night. Instead of kicking someone off, they are letting everyone stay another day. Howie needs to go home stat! I don't want to see him sweat in anymore food. It's really disgusting.

In other less exciting news, I really need to start packing. I've been bringing boxes home from work for the last couple of weeks. That's all the preparation I've done. I also need to call the cable and electric companies. I HATE moving.

I don't even want to watch the rest of this show. If Neil wins it will be because all the 13 year old girls in the country voted for him. Please don't let him win. GAH!

Best Buy is fun when you're drunk

I might have been a little tipsy last night when M and I decided it was time to go to Best Buy. It seemed like the perfect time for her to buy a new digital camera. So, with the help of a seriously cute salesgirl, (I think she was amused by our drunken state) she purchased a new camera. And for some reason I thought I just had to have Bose headphones for my ipod, so I bought a pair. After a huge shot of tequila and several rum and diet cokes, spending money just seems like a great idea. We did manage to save the gumbo before the drunken Best Buy trip. Last night was a blast.

This week I bought a Wii, joined a gym, paid rent, and bought expensive headphones. I need to stop spending money!

One tequila, two tequila...

New chef pants arrived today! I'm not into the crazy chef pants with all the peppers and shit on them. The wildest I get are a couple of pairs that have stripes on them. This is riveting information, I know.

M let her new cook make gumbo for a banquet she has tomorrow night. He made ten gallons, and it apparently sucks. So, I'm going to her club to help her fix it. I think it can be saved. If not, we're going to have to start over. Whatever happens, I'm taking Patron with me so it will all be okay.

Oh yeah, I got a Wii last night. After spending $429 I think I'm all set up and ready to go. I really, really hope I love it after dropping that much money for one.

Also, I wish Lauren had gone home before Sara.

I think that's all.

I'm sorry blog, I know I've been neglecting you

Last week was fun and exhausting. Having my nephew around for seven days made me all kinds of happy. He had a blast, but he was ready to see his mom by the time his visit was over. The things I miss most now that he's gone....his hugs and kisses, the way he would sit close to me and play with my fingers while he watched tv, and the way he would play with my hair when he was really tired and getting ready to fall asleep.

I'm probably a horrible person, but I laughed last night when Joey got sent home on Top Chef. I can't really explain why watching him cry made me laugh. But it did. I swear I'm normally a nice, sensitive person. Usually.

I'm moving in less than four weeks and I haven't started packing or decided on a new place to live. No reason to panic yet, right?

I'M GAY

My nephew arrives on Sunday, and he will be staying with me for a week. That means I probably won't be able to read Harry Potter until after he leaves. I think it might be hard to avoid being spoiled because everyone around will be reading it next week, and it will probably be all over the internet. I'm going to do my best though.

A live version of Curbside Prophet is playing right now, and it rocks.

My lease is up at the end of August, so I've been looking for a new place. Right now I'm in a condo but I want a house with a yard. Househunting sucks. Either it's the perfect house, but the wrong location, or a great location and a shitty house.

I had a very frightening dream last night. This random guy was trying to have sex with me. I didn't want to have sex with him, but I wasn't disgusted by it either. I woke up feeling very, very dirty. It's perfectly normal to have a heterosexual dream every once in awhile, right?

Two tickets on the hot tamale train!!!!!!!

Ok, I officially have a favorite on Top Chef. Lia! I think I even have a little crush on her. She's just so darn cute. It was great to finally see a couple of the women do so well last night. Of course, it was another girl who went home, but Lia and Casey were both very strong.

As for So You Think You Can Dance...it is time for Cedric to go home. It's not that I don't like him, he's just not as good in various styles as most of the others. I like Lacey, even though I didn't think I would, and I like Anya, Sabra, and Sarah.

In other news, it's t-minus 10 days until my nephew arrives for his visit, I'm not renewing my lease so I'm house hunting and I hope to be in a new place by the end of August, tonight I'll finish Me Talk Pretty One Day, and right now I'm sitting in my office at work and my ipod is playing Time Will Do the Talking by Patty Griffin.

My Granny's cheesecake is the yummiest I've ever had in my life. This is the recipe..

Crust:
1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 stick butter

Melt the butter and mix with the crumbs and sugar. Spread evenly in a 8 or 9-inch spring form pan.

Filling:
1 cup sugar
24 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature before mixing. Using the paddle attachment of the blender, beat all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. For an extra creamy result you can add an additional egg. Pour mixture into pan. Bake @ 325 degrees until center jiggles just a little when you move the pan. Usually between 30 and 45 minutes. Sometimes the top will brown slightly and crack. That is ok.

Topping:
16 oz. sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients by hand until smooth.

After removing cake from oven, spread topping over cake. Place cake back into oven for 5 minutes, just long enough for the topping to set. Remove from oven and cool completely before removing sides of pan.
