My youngest sister and her family were in town over the weekend. It was awesome to spend time with her and my nephew. He is just over a year old and walking everywhere. I also have a seven year old nephew who will be spending an entire week with me later this summer. We have a golf and tennis camp where I work and he's going to do that. I can't wait!
This is going to be a busy week, both at work and socially. Tonight, it's dinner and out to a bar with a couple of friends. Tomorrow night it's Pensacola to see the Molly Ringwald's. Wednesday we have a huge bbq at work. Thursday and Friday are still up in the air, but I think they are going to fill up soon. I'm usually more of a homebody, so after this week I'll be ready to hibernate at home for awhile.
Mother Sauce #4....
Veloute: In the most basic terms, a white stock thickened with white roux. It is the foundation for myriad sauces and can be flavored in infinite ways.
Tomato is also a mother sauce, but I'm going to skip a definition for it, because, well...because it's tomato sauce. Everyone knows what it is.
Lunch today was a sandwich made with toasted white bread, chicken salad, american cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato with bbq chips. I tend to get stuck on one thing and I eat it until I get sick of it. For the last week, that one thing has been chicken salad.
